"When I was a child, I took swimming lessons, but I still do not feel comfortable in the deep end. Water is a haunting and strange place to me. Sometimes I walk down to the banks of the Hudson River and watch as things float by just below the surface. There is a strange beauty to the detritus that glides past me. It is both mysterious and poetic. I am interested in how a tangle of rope could have multiple meanings to different people. The rope suggests a coming together or a pulling apart. Very fitting for this time in the world." - Gina Occhiogrosso
